No fewer than seven persons yesterday sustained injuries following a head-on collision involving two trucks in the Arinkinkin area of Ogbomoso South Local Government Area, Oyo State.
Witnesses said the accident occurred along the Ogbomoso-Ilorin Road and was caused by reckless overtaking by one of the truck drivers. The impact left both vehicles mangled and traffic temporarily halted.
An eyewitness, Olajide Babalola, said: “There were eight people involved, all men. Seven of them suffered serious injuries and were immediately taken to Ebunoluwa Specialist Hospital, Sabo, Ogbomoso, for urgent medical care. Remarkably, one person escaped unhurt.”
Another witness, who was en route to Ilorin at the time, added: “We stopped our bus when the accident occurred and waited for officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), who arrived promptly and helped transport the victims to the hospital.”
