7 kinsmen remanded in prison for killing villager

Seven male residents of Bagunji village of Shomgom Local Government Area of Gombe State, have been remanded in prison custody yesterday by the state magistrate’s court, over alleged culpable homicide.  

The accused persons, Joseph Noma, Danladi Noma, Audu Sarkin Noma, Shanono Sarkin Pawa, Jibitor Lamai, Monday Diamond and Hamisu Ingila, were alleged to have conspired with Tanimu Adamu, Jega Maisamari, Asabar Ibrahim, Alhaji Garkuwa and Shadrach Aliyu, all of the same village who are now at large, to perpetrate the act. 

The police First Information Report (FIR) read to the accused persons when they appeared before the court stated that they had conspired among themselves, where they incited disturbance and wreaked havoc on the people of Galdimari village. 

The court also heard that during the mayhem, the accused persons allegedly used a Dane gun to shot one Galadima Saleh who died on the spot. 

The court further heard that the accused had also inflicted grievous injuries on one Shuaibu Saleh Galadima. 

However, all the accused persons have denied the four-count charge. 

The presiding judge, Chief Magistrate Japhet Maida, ordered the accused to be remanded in prison custody and adjourned the case to October 27 for further mention.
