Naval officers of the Nigerian Navy Ship (NNS), BEECROFT, have arrested seven Nigerian stowaways aboard a merchant vessel, MV CHESAPEAKE, along a Lagos channel.
The ship and its crew were heading back to Europe after discharging cargo in Lagos when the stowaways were sighted by the naval officers who were on patrol.
The suspects were said to have boarded the vessel through the rudder compartment with the intention of travelling to Germany.
The Commander of NNS BEECROFT, Rear Admiral Bashir Mohammed, said the suspects were arrested on Friday, January 21, 2022, at about 1am at the Tincan Island Jetty, Apapa.
