The police in Abuja have arrested a gang of 7 armed robbers with a car they snatched from its owner in Kano State.
It was gathered that the suspects were intercepted around 3am on Monday while making their way into Kubwa, a satellite town of the FCT with the stolen car, a Honda Accord.
A police source in Kubwa said policemen on stop and search became suspicious of the suspects after they failed to present any document relating to the vehicle and other items in the vehicle, including a plasma TV and other wears.
The suspects gave their names as: Nasiru Usman, 23; Auwalu Isa, 21; Ubala Stephen, 34 and Bilah Adamu, 18. Others were Umar Sani, 22; Bello Abdullahi, 18 and Muhammad Lawal 20.
Arms, including cutlasses were said to have been found in their possession.
The suspects were said to have carried out the operation in an estate identified as ‘Dawaciki Gida 1000’ in Kano metropolis.
Confirming the incident, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Kubwa, CSP Ayobami Surajudeen, added that, the vehicle owner who was contacted through a phone number sighted on a wedding invitation card in the intercepted items had been invited to the station.
