INEC National Commissioner for Lagos, Ondo and Osun States Prof Akinola Salawu, who disclosed this during an evaluation and confirmation tour to Ondo State yesterday, said they have done their bit and it is left for the people to go and collect their cards.
He said he was in the state as part of efforts to cover the South West, see the level of preparedness of his men and how they could improve and add value to the election.
He stressed that the commission was ready to conduct free and fair elections, adding that the electoral body was not in support of any political party or candidate.
“We have been having meetings upon meetings; nobody is supporting any party. We are not partisan,” he said.
On elections postponement, Salawu said the issue of security could not be pushed aside as nobody would want their child in a situation where their security could not be guaranteed.
He noted that the use of card readers during the election would add value to the credibility of the entire process, which he said should be encouraged, assuring that they would continue to work towards successful polls with the cooperation of the people.
