A male resident of Kefir Nassarawa quarters in Kano Metropolis Area Council is standing trial before Kano State Sharia Court for allegedly stealing women’s purse.
Jibrin Sani, 70, was alleged to have broken into the house of one Halima Ali of the same address on November 29 where he carted away her purse which contained the sum of N19, 200.
The police First Information Report (FIR), read to the accused stated that when the accused was arrested by good Samaritans, the purse and the sum of N1, 680 was found with him.
The accused person admitted guilty to one-count charge of theft, an offense the police prosecuting officer Ahmad Musa said was contrary to Section 133 of the Kano State Sharia Penal Code Law 2000.
The Presiding Judge, Malam Abubakar Mahmud Ayagi ordered for the remand of the accused in prison custody and adjourned the matter to December 17 for judment.
