An Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrate’s Court has ordered the remand of a 70-year-old man, Musa Hamed, over alleged unlawful possession of arms and ammunition.

The prosecutor, ASP Akinwale Oriyomi, told the court that there was probable cause to remand the defendant, who is also reasonably suspected of attempted murder of one Kunle Obaidu.

Oriyomi alleged that the defendant maliciously damaged political posters and threatened the life of the victim.

He said the offences are punishable under Sections 241, 344(d), and 354 of the Criminal Law of Ekiti State, 2021, as well as Section 132 of the Electoral Act, 2026. The offences were allegedly committed within the Ado-Ekiti Magisterial District on or about May 4, 2026.

The prosecutor added that further investigation was required and that the case file had been forwarded to the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for legal advice. He urged the court to grant the ex parte application.

Chief Magistrate Abayomi Adeosun subsequently ordered the remand of the defendant in a correctional facility in Ado-Ekiti.

The case was adjourned until June 5, 2026, for mention.
