Enraged youth of the community thereafter arrested him, stripped him naked and almost lynched him before he was rescued.
He was subsequently taken to the police command headquarters in Owerri.
The suspect told newsmen that he killed his younger brother while he was asleep because he took the only plot of land belonging to the family.
He said: “I was angry that he took the only land belonging to our family.
“Instead of me to be in possession of the only portion of land as the first son, he possessed it. I got angry and attacked him.”
The suspect’s daughter, Nkiru, also told newsmen though her father and his slain younger brother were used to having minor issues, she was surprised that the issue went out of control to the extent of his father allegedly killing her uncle.
The police spokesperson for the command, CSP Mike Abattam, is yet to respond to an inquiry on the matter.
