Apart from the stadium, some of the Policemen have been assigned to provide security at the camps of the teams and other strategic locations within the city of Kano.

 Addressing the press yesterday, Assistant Police Commissioner Hafiz Mohammed Haruna said the police were on alert at all the places the players and the officials would be during their stay in Kano.

 He said the police had banned the spectators from entering into the stadium with water, can drinks, among other things, saying vendors are also banned from hawking in the stadium.

 “The tournament is important to the country as it will showcase our rich cultural heritage to the world. So we are poised to ensure that we do not record any problem before, during and after the soccer tournament,” he said.

 According to him, the police did not encounter any problem so far, nor did they anticipate any in the future.

 AC Hafizu, who is the chairman of LOC (Security Sub-committee), said free flow of traffic would also be ensured during the tournament.
