Executive Secretary of FCT’s Primary Health Care Board, Dr. Rilwanu Mohammed, made the disclosed this while fielding questions from newsmen at the commissioning of the Emergency Pediatric Unit (EPU) and House Officers Quarters at the General Hospital, Kubwa.
He decried the deplorable condition of most health centres, which he attributed to gross neglect by the area councils who are directly responsible to them, assuring that the committee set up by the FCT minister would address the situation.
“We want to make sure our Primary Health Care Centres are in good condition in terms of equipment, building and manpower,” he added.
Mohammed hinted that the staff strength of the centres are presently at 1,300 as against 4,300, resulting to the over saturation of patients at the General Hospitals who were supposed to access health facilities at the primary health centres.
While calling for patience on the part of the residents, the Executive Secretary pledged the FCTA determination in ensuring that all Primary Health Care Centres are in good condition in terms of equipment, structure and manpower.  
Speaking earlier, the Chief Medical Officer, Kubwa General Hospital, Dr. Ahmed Danfulani, said the essence of the commissioning is to enlighten Kubwa residents of the availability of the facilities at their door step.
He thanked the Secretary, Human and Health Services Secretariat, Dr. Ademola Onakomaiya and his team for their support, adding that with the House Officers Quarters in place, the challenge of insufficient manpower in the hospital would be reduced.
