Disclosing this to Grassroots sports in an interview, Director of Pepsi Football Academy, Kashimawo Laloko, said the company is embarking on the project in line with its corporate social responsibility.

He said the talent hunt will focus on players between 14-year-old and below and will take place in the three major geo-political zone of the country, namely Lagos, Kaduna and Enugu.

At the end of the programme, according to the former NFA board member, 100 players will be selected and awarded two years scholarship to brighten their football talents.

“In the past, 7up has been part of youth development in Nigeria and it will be recalled that it is the first to sponsor the National Football League and made tremendous contributions to the success of the Super Falcons at the maiden edition of African Women Championship in 1998.”

“Having done all these, the organization felt that marking the golden jubilee anniversary with Nigeria, it would be better to continue with the belief and that is why it decided to start the talent hunt, which will be an annual event.”

He said the talent hunt will commence in Lagos and will be staged at the FIFA Astroturf pitch of the National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos, on November 6.

The second leg will take place at the Murtala Square, Kaduna on November 13, while the last leg will be held at the Enugu State Temporary playing pitch, Nsuka, Enugu on November 27.
