The Ekiti State Police Command has arrested eight alleged motorcycle snatchers, Adebayo Bashiru, Oluyemi Kunle, Gabriel Isaac, Abubakar Abdullahi, Macon Andrew, Peter Ninfa, Lawali Ibrahim and Kabiru Abdullahi.
The Commissioner of Police, Mr Akinwale Adeniran, said the recent robberies, especially snatching of motorcycles, within Ado-Ekiti and other identified areas led to the arrest of the suspects.
Akinwale explained that a manhunt for criminal elements who were terrorising civilians yielded positive results as the command’s Rapid Response Squad (RRS), upon a tip off, arrested the suspects who operated within Ikere, Ado-Ekiti and Igede-Ekiti axes.

The spokesman of the command, DSP Sunday Abutu, said the first six suspects confessed that they snatched so many motorcycles from their owners and mentioned Lawali Ibrahim and Kabiru Abdullahi as their accomplices who usually bought the motorcycles.
Abutu said an intensified effort led to the arrest of the buyers who further confessed that they had transported seven of the motorcycles to the Northern part of Nigeria.
