Operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS), Ekiti State Police Command, have arrested eight suspects for murder.
The suspects are Sule Dairu (25), Ali Bello (25), Mohammodu Hammed (21), Ali Salihu Medoki (25), Ori Gambo aka Gambo Alhaji (20), Shaibu Umaru aka Gahi (45), Ibrahim Abdullahi aka Rusku (27) and Suberu Lawal (40).
They are being held for the murder of Mohammodu Ibrahim and Ibrahim Baba, and the kidnapping of three others, Alhaji Jubril Abu, Awa Jubril and Iliasu Guda.
According to SP Sunday Abutu, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, investigations revealed that on 7th May 2025, at about 10pm, the gang, numbering about ten, invaded Isah’s Camp at Odo Ayedun-Ekiti, shot Mohammodu Ibrahim dead and kidnapped four others, but later killed Ibrahim Baba after collecting ransom from the family members.

Abutu added that during the investigation, all the arrested suspects confessed to the commission of the crime and narrated the roles each of them played before, during and after the incident.
Some items that belonged to the victims, such as a Tecno phone, shirts, trousers, slippers, among others, were recovered from the suspects.
While the arrested suspects have been charged to court and remanded in the custodial centre, the Ekiti State Commissioner of Police, CP Joseph Eribo, reiterated the Command’s zero tolerance for crimes and criminality.
He equally called on members of the public to be security conscious and ensure effective collaboration with the Police and other security agencies.
