NAIP said that there are vast opportunities in the sectors that will create millions of jobs if the needed incentives and infrastructure are put in place.
Speaking at a pre-conference briefing in Lagos, chairman of NAIP 17th annual conference planning committee, John Adekoje said the association has not received any robust interface with government in the areas of research and development.
He said that the county does not need to import any drug as the raw materials for all forms of drugs abound in Nigeria but affirmed that the environment to attract investment is unattractive.
Executive Secretary of NAIP, Adebayo Temenu said Nigerian pharmacists have the potential to develop drugs to cure the dreaded Ebola Virus Disease but said government must encourage research with prompt release of research grants.
According to NAIP, the 2014 national conference with the theme, ‘Tapping the Opportunities in the Pharma Industry for wealth Creation’ will offer members the avenue to deliberate on contemporary and challenging issues around the pharma industry and proffer solution to enhance it growth.
