Chairman, College of Screeners, Mr. Shaibu Hussein, said the organisers received a good number of entries from what could be considered new territories for AMAA from countries like Cuba, Brazil, Trinidad & Tobago and Jamaica.
The film critic said: “The enthusiasm and interest of filmmakers from South America, Francophone countries and North Africa is increasing by the day with the amount of films submitted for the awards from the countries in these regions. We are quite excited about this development.”
The pre-selection screening has started with entries being screened in line with the guidelines and rules before a final selection is made of films that meet these requirements are  then sent to the College of Screeners where adjudication starts.
AMAA 2015 will hold on a date to be announced while the Nomination Gala night will hold in May before the inauguration of the President-elect, General Muhammadu Buhari, on May 29.
Mr. Ayuko Babu, director Pan-African Film Festival in Los Angeles, Ms. Dorothee Wenner, curator of the Berlin Film Festival which held in January, and Mr. Steve Ayorinde, a Nigerian senior journalist and film critic, are among those who make up the jury with Mr. Keith Shiri, a Zimbabwean, film festival organiser and programmer acting as chairman.
