An 82-year-old man has been remanded in prison custody by Jekadafari Area Court, Gombe, for allegedly impregnating a teenage girl.

The accused, Isibu Adamu, who is one-legged, was sued by one Laraba Ishiyaku, of Herwagana quarters of the metropolis, over his failure to pay his rent.

Laraba, who was his landlady, told the court that Adamu who resided in her house located opposite the Gombe Main Market, refused to pay his rent for the one room he was occupying.

She alleged that the accused was also luring teenage girls into his room and having carnal knowledge of them, as a result of which he impregnated one of the girls, who has since delivered a child for him.

She therefore asked the court to evict him from her house, because of his bad behaviour and immoral conduct.

The court also heard that when the parents of the girl contacted the accused, he admitted being responsible for the pregnancy.

When asked by the court if the allegations are true, the accused pleaded guilty. He further told the court that he gives each of the teenage girls sweets after he sleeps with them.

The Principal Area Court judge, Muhammad Ibrahim Nafada, therefore ordered the accused to be remanded in prison custody and adjourned the case to October 23 for hearing.
