The Sokoto State Director of Sports, Alhaji Abdulhakim Yakubu, has expressed utmost confidence in the ability of his athletes to deliver at the 8th National Youth games in Asaba, Delta State.
Sokoto State is going to feature U-15 female handball, U-15 male handball, U-15 male volleyball, and U-15 male football event at the games.
Following their victories in the zonal competition, Yakubu is optimistic that Team Sokoto will make the state proud at the Games.
He thanked the state Governor Dr. Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto, for his unwavering support and dedication to sports development in the state.

The Director also commended the Commissioner of Youths and Sports Development, Hon. Jamilu Umar, for his contributions to the team’s success.
Meanwhile, the Games village will open today ahead of the opening ceremony on Wednesday.
The 8th National Youth Games will be held from September 9 to 19 with most of the events taking place at the late Stephen Keshi Stadium Asaba.
Organisers have assured all athletes of health insurance in case of medical emergency during the competition.
Chairman of the media sub-committee, Harrison Ocholor, also said that all athletes are covered during the period of the competition in accordance with international best practices.
