According to reports by The Nation newspaper, the CAN President stated that there had been attempts by some sections of the media to link him with the incident, by some mischievous elements. He said, “As you are aware, the media has been awash in the past few days about an unfortunate incident  involving the movement of funds from Nigeria to  South Africa. And in the unfortunate news reports, attempts have been made to link me directly with the transaction”
Since the incident took place, Mr Oritsejafor has come under tough scrutiny from Nigerians with some calling for his removal as CAN President and his arrest. New Media brings their comments:
Ndidi: Only God knows how many times this man Oritsejafor has used his plane to loot money. This sounds like a simple case of money laundering but when caught, those involved lie that the money was to be used to purchase arms so that Nigerians won’t get angry.
Ibrahim Hassan: The embattled CAN leader should not accuse a section of the media of alleged distortion of the BBC Hausa interview with Bishop Kaigama of the Catholic Conference.
Max: Can someone tell this man to keep quiet? He can keep deceiving his congregation, but he can’t fool many Nigerians who are tired of his leadership style in CAN.
Roli: Is he still lying? How can this man be serving God with such denial? He should be removed as CAN President because he doesn’t deserve the position.
WhatWouldYouDo: This man should resign honourably and face politics/business squarely. Under him, CAN has become a man and mammoth worshipping body, gone are the days when it was voice of the voiceless.
