The Edo State Cash Transfer Unit has disclosed that over 922 youths and women in the state have benefited from the Nigeria Community Action for Resilience and Economic Stimulus (NG-CARES) Project, Edo Livelihood Support, grant.

City & Crime reports that the EDO CARES Livelihood Support Programme is one of the disbursement- linked indicators under the NG-CARES Project in Edo under the World Bank.

The Training and Communication Officer of the unit, Mrs Adesuwa Agbonavbare, in a statement, said the programme was aimed at supporting the existing businesses of youths and women from poor and vulnerable households to improve consumption and end the cycle of poverty.

She said, “The grant transfers followed verification and enrolment of eligible beneficiaries who are youths and women in 11 LGAs of the state.”

She explained that the payment would enable the beneficiaries to buy the necessary equipment required to improve their different trades, as well as enhance their means of livelihood in a sustainable manner.
