For years, the people of Bayan Kwari Nahuta in Potiskum, Yobe State, have suffered greatly due to the collapse of a major bridge in their community. This structure, once a vital link to schools, markets, and health facilities, now stands in ruins, causing endless hardship and endangering lives.

The broken bridge has turned what was once a simple journey into a dangerous ordeal, especially during the rainy season when flooding makes the area almost impassable. Children are often unable to get to school, while traders and farmers face increased transport costs and losses as they struggle to move goods to market. The elderly and the sick are cut off from health services, deepening the community’s sense of abandonment.

The area has recorded several tragic deaths of children and young adults while trying to cross the failed structure. It is no longer just an infrastructure issue—it is now a matter of life, education, and economic survival.

The people of Bayan Kwari Nahuta are appealing to Governor Mai Mala Buni and the Yobe State Government to prioritize the reconstruction of this bridge. Rebuilding it would restore safe access to essential services, ease the suffering of residents, and bring back hope to a community that has endured too much.

This is not merely a call for a bridge to be repaired. It is a plea for dignity, equal opportunity, and the basic right to safe mobility. The people of Potiskum remain hopeful that their cry will be heard and action taken without further delay.
