Nigerians from all walks of life braved the sun and other inclement weather conditions to obtain voters card and also defied threats to life and property to ensure that after voting, their votes truly counted. Observers believe that no elections into other posts can beat the National Assembly polls in terms of fairness and credibility and to this effect, posit that it is a new, albeit position dawn for purposeful representation for all peoples of Nigeria.
Nigerians must demand that road contracts that have dragged over the years just so that money will be appropriated in the annual budget which anyway, goes into private are duly completed according to the spirit and letter of the contracts terms. Thousands of Nigerians die every year on our roads that have remained perpetually under construction in our cities and the quality of education is at its lowest ebb in the country.
However, there is hope for Nigeria with a large percentage of new lawmakers coming from opposition parties which observers believe may lead to a more humane parliament. Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) really had a good outing with Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) also gaining some inroads.
In Gombe State, one particular House Member-elect is Khamisu Mailantarki, representing Gombe/Kwami/Funakaye Federal Constituency. Mailantarki is a successful businessman who has business spanning Nigeria, some parts of Africa and in the United States of America.
If riches were his primary reason for joining politics, he would have remained outside of it because he was running a lucrative business through which he is earning his living comfortably and without being threatened by anyone. He is a known international car dealer with dealership in USA/Nigeria as well as real estate here in Nigeria.
To realise his ambition, he joined the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) because he has seen in it the potentials for the emancipation of the common man. Indeed, he sees the CPC as the place to be due to the presence of his mentor and the party’s presidential candidate General Muhammadu Buhari.
