At the exact time of departure, the train gradually left Kaduna for Abuja. Looking through the windows, you catch the beautiful glimpse of residents of Rigasa community lined up by the wire fence waving safe journey to both the train and its passengers. As the train gain momentum, the fascinating views of rice fields, maize and orange plantations, the general view and extent of the forest, mountain and water bodies all possible as a result of the elevation of the rail tracks and the height of the train is so captivating. A view not possible when traveling by road.
The comfort in the train is incomparable with a car as the seats are well spaced to allow for free movements of the legs. The absence of pot holes all through guarantees a gallop less ride. The engine moving the train is so silent, the wider tracks it travels on and it wider and beautiful interior is a complete deviation from previous trains known to Nigerians. The air conditioning in both the economy and business class couches is superb and subtle to the skin. The beautiful and smiling faces of kids that find it hard to stop playing all through the journey adds more beauty to the whole trip. The ability to move through to other coaches as the train moves adds glamor to the whole experience. With good restrooms and cleaners in every cabin, the train is always kept clean.
The train stops at different stations along the way to pick and drop more passengers for approximately five minutes. With the moderate speed and the stress free nature of the journey, the whole two hours forty minutes ride from Kaduna to Idu station in Abuja seems an hour journey and it was indeed a journey worth taking.
