But, what really is vision? Some say it is what you can see for your life, or maybe, what you are pursuing in life. Well, they might be right, but not fully. There is no genuine vision when you have not discovered your God-given purpose. If you have not known why you are alive, how then will you know what to do while alive. What a goal-keeper does in a football game is different from what a striker does in the same game. The reason is simply what they are meant to do! A goal-keeper has a vision that keeps the goalpost from goals, while a striker has a vision of scoring in the opponent’s goal post. If they mix that up, disaster hits the team. Now, you see that what you visualise should agree with your life’s purpose.

“I will stand my watch and set myself on the rampart and watch to see what He will say to me…Then the Lord answered me, ‘Write the vision…’”(Habakkuk 2:1).

Notice that in the above scripture, Habakkuk was standing on his Watch (office/purpose), then requesting for what to see (vision). This accurate attitude from Prophet Habakkuk set the stage for God to answer, saying “write the vision…”

Everyone needs to know their purpose before they can talk of their vision. So many people mix it up to their own detriment. Do not have vision before you discover purpose. Also, after you have discovered purpose, you must go ahead and catch the vision for your life. This vision you must catch is that which God laid in you, and not what you carnally desired or imitated.

Vision is the passionate picture God has laid in your heart concerning the future towards fulfilling your purpose. You really need the Holy Spirit to help you be who you were called to be. Vision simplifies your purpose. A man without vision will even find it hard to locate and identify his opportunities. Without vision, you are also bound to be a time waster and procrastinator.  

Proverbs 29:18 says, “Where there is no vision, the people cast off restraint…” To restrain means to check. Therefore, when you are without vision, you cannot check yourself. Such makes people to talk about desires, but never getting disciplined enough to achieve it. You plan, but you don’t carry it out. You expect, but you do not receive all because there is no real vision. Do not mistake wishes or desires for vision.

Today, you need a re-appraisal! God destined you for glory, but without a vision attached to God, you are limiting yourself. Build yourself up in Jesus and see Him transform you through the dynamic power of a God-given vision. Truly, you are indomitable…if you yield to the Holy Spirit.
