A-list stars end ‘The Trek’

The event which marked the end of the nine week long music fiesta, ‘The Trek’ featured A-list artistes, 2face, Wande Coal, Tiwa Savage, Ice Prince, Dr. Sid, Waje, and J Martins with surprise performances by MI, Sound Sultan and Don Jazzy. 
Anchored by standup comedian, Gbenga Adeleke and Tinsel’s Gideon Okeke also included Konga, Zaina, Mr. 2kay, Laff Up, Crystals and Ajebutter amongst others who left fans glued to the arena till the very end as they yearned for more from the entertainers and cheered each captivating performance after the other.
Considered to be the most flamboyant in its twelve year history, the hockey pitch of the National Stadium Surulere played host to thousands of fans from across Nigeria and beyond her shores.
Crystals winners of music talent hunt show opened the evening with some of their hit tracks and have endeared themselves even more following their performances at different stages of the festival.
Waje, thrilling guests with her captivating voice as she ‘mingled’ with them down stage set a new tone for the night.
Adding tonic was Sound Sultan’s surprise entry as he performed old but ever green songs ‘Jagbajantis’ like as he had released his 6th studio album only the day before.
Fast becoming a must watch, Tiwa Savage scintillated all present with her voice and nimble steps as the crowd went wild with Don Jazzy’s surprise stage appearance and rendition of ‘Eminado’. 
The Mavin Records boss also graced the stage during Dr Sid’s set as the two performed a duet of the crowd favourite ‘Lady Don Dada’.
In October, ‘Lady Don Dada’ crooner Dr SID will celebrate 10 years in the Nigerian music industry. The artiste who is responsible for some of Nigeria’s favourite hits almost stole the show again with another duet with Don Jazzy on his Lady Don Dada hit.
Enlivening the crowd some more was JMartins who seemed to infect them with his jokes and music at the same time as they enthusiastically applauded his every move.
Wande Coal, The Black Diamond continued to weave his magic, first stepping in as yet another surprise act at The Trek and also completely captivating his die-hard fans throughout his 45-minute performance, no mean feat for any artiste before a highly expectant audience.
There’s no doubt, it’s the year of Ice Prince. Back to back concerts, numerous awards and of course the never-ending adoration of his teeming fans. Ice Prince who had only hours earlier arrived the country from Amsterdam from a concert in which he performed, took time to thank his fans profusely for supporting him strongly right from the early days of his career.
It will be recalled that the hit maker recently won Best International Act (Africa) at the BET awards, beating industry heavy weight 2face and four other African acts to win the coveted award.  His mentor M.I, who discovered him, was the last surprise performance of the night- storming the stage to perform in a most fitting set.
2face, like fine wine, keeps getting better with age and fans who waited patiently from late noon of the previous day to early morning of the next to watch their favourite performer were certainly not disappointed.
With his live band, 2face satisfied the gravely whetted appetite of his ever loyal fans with an exciting medley of his greatest hits that kept the excited crowd on its feet. Idibia engaged with fans, having a musical conversation that lasted until the early hours of the morning.
 ‘The Trek’ toured Festac, Lokoja, Owerri ,Enugu, Aba, Nnewi, Asaba, Enugu, Nnewi, Abeokuta and Agege dishing out some of Nigeria’s best in the music world.
