 It really matters to me that in a time of economic wahala, we are looking for the most economical cars to buy and run. Yet as it seems we keep looking in the wrong places. Cars have been fun tools since times past but they have become expensive to buy them as brand new, let alone maintain them. Even though the government tried various means to encourage the buying of brand new cars buy introducing bans on older ones I really have not seen what I expected – well they tried but it doesn’t work like that. A lot has to be put in place for such things to work. Well enough of that.

Here’s the deal what is actually wrong if people were to buy the diesel engines for a change? Really I reckon that apart from some of the government drivers that undergo levels driving re-orientation and motor enthusiast, all other drivers should own a diesel. After all most drivers are concerned of it being a people carrier than if it had DSC or ASC on it, because they never really push it to that level.  I mean the diesel cost less to run if you are good in handling your car well. You will definitely spend less than the petrol users. Plus they are more durable than the petrol engines. Have you even notice in recent times the diesel engines are just as powerful as or even more powerful than the petrol engines. The even move fast as well. The only thing that may concern most motor user is that most diesels are better of in manual than auto transmission. I think the reason may be that diesel may some times need a better overtaking potential than the petrol engines and it may require the torque. It’s acceleration is still a few seconds slower. Perhaps that’s why manufacturer have made it optional for some of their diesel engines. I know you may argue that diesel is more expensive but have you ever wondered how much diesel you use on trips. From most diesel user I have learnt almost half less of petrol. So why shouldn’t anyone buy a diesel? Just imagine how much money we would have help people save just from buying diesel alone.

Apollos take my hand let’s preach the diesel gospel. The sooner Nigerians begin to realise that they have been looking in the wrong places in the spirit of frugality. The better they will begin smiling as they continue to burn less to save much. Plus you don’t have to wait in queues.
