A strange birthday gift: politician pays off bills of patients detained in hospital

Some of the patients who had been treated at the Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital Complex and discharged but remained there because of inability to pay their medical bill got succour at the weekend as a governorship aspirant of the People’s Democratic Party, Oluomo Owolabi, paid their bills.

It is gathered some of the patients had spent several months loitering the hospital premises after being detained by hospital authorities over their inability to pay their bills.

Owolabi paid their bills to mark his birthday in Ile-Ife, Osun

The elated patients showered Owolabi with prayers as they lamented that their stay in the hospital premises after being discharged was traumatic and pathetic but they were helpless.

While speaking, Owolabi said his decision to celebrate his birthday the common people and pay the medical bill of the affected patient was informed by his desire to serve the people and help the humanity.

Owolabi had a thanksgiving service at the RCCG Iloromu Qrts and a reception in his residence where he celebrated his birthday with the downtrodden and top personalities.
