It is funny how life works. Sometimes, the people who burn the brightest in service and loyalty are the ones whose stories go untold, until the right moment comes along.
Today, that moment is here, and it is about a man whose name rings through the halls of Kwankwasiya like an anthem: “Ibrahim Adam.”
Just last week, a friend asked me, “Why Ibrahim Adam? What makes him stand out?” I laughed. Because the real question should be: “Where would Kwankwasiya be without men like him?” and that compelled me to write this tribute.
In brief, our paths with Ibrahim crossed about eight years ago, and from the very beginning, one thing I noticed and was clear – this man doesn’t just believe in Kwankwasiya; he lives it. His political loyalty stands like an old baobab tree that is rooted, unshaken, and providing shade for the movement he loves.
For years, every interaction we had was either a Friday goodwill message (the man never misses a Jumu’ah reminder till after his marriage – Hahaha!) or a discussion into Kwankwasiya’s strategies. No small talk, no distractions, but just pure, and undiluted commitment.
I told my friend, that is the unique thing about Ibrahim. While others come and go, he remains, working quietly but fiercely behind the scenes.
I often say this to my friends: if Kwankwasiya were a fortress, Ibrahim would be one of the few guards who never sleeps; the one who ensures the gates remain unbroken even when the storms rage. And he does all that because his heart beats for the cause.
When he was appointed as the Special Advisor on Information to the Executive Governor of Kano state, I was happy because it was truly a deserving appointment, and Ibrahim is a strategist.
Whether it’s collating critical information, addressing emerging issues, or defending the interests of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s administration, he does it with precision, virtual or physical.
A simple check into his social media activities over the years will reveal how the man is everywhere dissecting policies, engaging critics, and rallying support like a seasoned general even prior such an official appointment.
I remember a particular moment during the last election cycle when misinformation was spreading like wildfire.
While many others panicked, Ibrahim was already crafting responses, mobilizing voices, and ensuring the truth cut through the noise. That is who he is, a man who does not just react but acts with purpose.
When Governor Abba appointed Ibrahim as his special advisor on information I was not surprised. In fact, I had wanted to write about him earlier, to tell the world, “This is who Ibrahim Adam is.” But then I paused. Does anyone in Kano’s political sphere NOT know him? Is there a single person who has followed Kwankwasiya’s journey and hasn’t seen Ibrahim’s fingerprints on its successes? I doubt if there is.
His appointment, I believe is not just a reward; it is a long-overdue recognition, and i sincerely thank His Excellency, Governor Abba for how that young man’s loyalty is noticed, hard work is rewarded, and his true service never goes unseen.
I am sure Ibrahim is not the only one, he represents thousands of others who toil in silence, not for positions, but because they believe in something greater than themselves. The likes of Engr. Kabiru Garba, Tahir Marmara, and Haroun Muhammad among others.
On this note, I say again congratulations to Ibrahim Adam, the last man standing. When others have walked away, he remains the quiet force behind the noise, and now, a deserving appointee serving Kano in even greater capacity. I wish him continued success on this path.
