Participation in the forum is a must on a weekly basis. For each subject there are open forums where volunteers from academia worldwide help students find answers to their questions. Students are given weekly assignments that allow them to test their understanding of the material.

University of the People’s goal is to allow students to live their lives, make a living at whatever means are available in their environment, and yet be able to enjoy a supportive learning environment that will eventually lead them to a better life.

    What programs does University of the People offer?

University of the People offers a unique learning experience by way of four programs in two academic fields:  Business Administration and  Computer Science

 Is University of the People an accredited university?

University of the People is not an accredited institution. University of the People intends to apply for accreditation and for authorization from recognized agencies and authorities in accordance with the rules, regulations and relevant timelines of said agencies and authorities.

Can I transfer credits to University of the People?

At the present, University of the People is not an accredited institution. Consequently, we are unable at this stage to accept transfer students who are seeking credit  for coursework at another institution. In the future, we hope to be able to accept transfer credits transferred earned at an accredited educational institution for purposes of transfer to UoPeople.  The acceptance for transfer of University of the People academic credits is determined by the receiving institutions.

Can I receive a Master’s degree or my Doctorate through University of the People?

No. Currently, University of the People does not confer any degrees. At the present our programs offers a new learning experience similar in its scope and educational rigor to academic studies towards four degrees; An Associate and BSc in Computer Science and an Associate and BA in Business Administration.

Where does the study take place?

University of the People classes take place online, so people can learn wherever an Internet connection is available. Whether you have a fast connection or a slow one you get the same lesson, since presently, all materials, including the lessons, are online texts. To allow even more people to participate the lessons can be read in the span of a few days. They are not restricted to a specific time. The students can read and participate whenever their lives allow it.

 How do I take exams? Are there any fees involved?

At the present, all exams will be administered online. University of the People will waive all exam processing fees for the first term. However, in the future we do intend to charge an exam processing fee for each exam.

What programs will University of the People offer its students?

In the initial stages, University of the People will offer four programs in two fields; Computer Science and Business Administration. These programs may in the future, lead towards four recognized undergraduate degrees: an Associate and a BA in Business Administration and an Associate and a BSc in Computer Science. However, no degrees will be granted until the university obtains proper authorization. UoPeople plans to offer other programs and to apply for accreditation in the future.

What is the enrollment process?

Upon receiving  notification  of admissions to University of the People,  the new students will be automatically enrolled in the first term courses. Enrollment for subsequent terms will be according the to academic calendar . Please click here for important dates and deadlines.

What are the application requirements?

 If I applied before and was denied admission can I reapply next term?

Yes. You will need to submit a new application, but make sure to check the box that indicates you are re-applying so we can identify you in our database and locate your academic transcripts and other information.

 Are there any fees?

University of the People is a tuition-free university.

University of the People receives no bills for rooms and administration – so studying at UoPeople is free of charge. At the present, UoPeople also does not charge for application, registration and exam processing fees. However, these fees and charges will not necessarily be waived in the future.

 Is there a separate fee for learning materials?

No, there is no fee for any learning materials. Everything is available via our website and online using free Internet resources.

Is the TOEFL required (even if I attended a school where the LANGUAGE of instruction was not English)?

No. TOEFL is not a requirement for acceptance to University of the People. However, if you have taken the TOEFL(or other equivalent), you are requested to submit the scores. At the present, all students are required to take the English Composition orientation course.  

My transcripts are not in English. Will you accept them?

Any non-US institution transcripts of degree must be fully translated into English and authorized by a notary. You must also send the original transcript (or an authorized notary copy) with the translated copy.
