I am compelled to publish this write up not as a female chauvinist, but as a compatriot who loves Nigeria as a country and will associate with it any day and time despite my youthfulness.

For a while now, Nigeria has been faced with bad governance and huge corruption which has culminated into under-development of the country since independence to date. These encounters have dragged the country down to an endless pit of despair, turmoil, sadness, frustration and anger. 

It is not gainsaying that men have ruled this country since 1960 (when Nigeria obtained her independence) to date. During these years of misrule and maladministration, Nigeria has not progressed positively amongst the comity of nations. 

In the good old days of Nigeria, we were a nation blessed with abundant human and natural resources. But now, we are just a mere shadow of our past and mostly known for amorality- in other words, corruption.

Corruption has eaten deeply into our fabrics, destroyed our value systems and already portraying a negative outlook globally. Historically, and as reported, corruption is said to have started before the first military coup and also the first republic, but it was mild and later became more prevalent and a norm during the General Ibrahim Babangida’s regime/administration.

This outbreak of corruption has hindered the socio-economic development of our nation. Hence, these rulers, head of states and presidents have all been male folks since independence to date. Consequently, an evaluation of their performance has negatively impacted on the country due largely to bad governance, over inflation of contract sums, and many other corruptible tendencies. The MEN have failed!!

Due to these immeasurable failures, it is now time for the women to try their Midas touch on governance and the economy as noted in countries such as; Germany, United Kingdom, Croatia, San Marino, Switzerland, Haiti, Bangladesh, Lithuania, Brazil, South Korea, Mauritius, Nepal, Australia, Estonia, Malta, Chile, Namibia, Iceland, Norway, Serbia, Peru and a host of others. Most of these countries mentioned are succeeding and taking their countries to greater heights in terms of Human Capital Development, Information Technology, Economy, Governance, etc.

Being a sympathetic youth and a female who already understands and still learning the acts of governance, I feel so sad and have the greatest wish that Nigeria should think and rethink by allowing the women folks to occupy the political landscape for the development of greater Nigeria.
