The chairman of Abaji Area Council, Alhaji Abdulrahman Ajiya, has donated over N3 million to victims of fire disaster in the council.
Ajiya, while presenting the cash to 58 victims, said the council decided to assist them because they lost property to fire early this year.
He said the council carried out the assistance without any bias, adding that his administration has always operated an open door policy to accommodate everybody regardless of their backgrounds.
Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Mohammed Hamidu, appreciated the council chairman for identifying with them over the fire incident.
He said the support given to them would help as they tried to revive their businesses.
“Honestly, what we witnessed today was the first of its kind in the history of Abaji Area Council, where a chairman comes to the aid of his people who lost their valuables to fire.
“We pray may Allah continue to guide and protect him as he pilots the affairs of the council,” he said.
