The Chairman of Abaji Area Council, Alhaji Abdulrahman Ajiya, has approved the sum of N4, 442, 409:06 for the payment of primary school teachers’ 2018 annual increment.
Ajiya disclosed this while handing over 30,000 exercise books to the Secretary of Local Education Authority (LEA), Alhaji Umar Ibrahim Ndagi, for free distribution to primary school pupils in the area on Friday.
He said teachers’ welfare should be what every leader needed to give priority to, since they were the bedrock of the socio-economic development of the society.
He said the council decided to procure and donate the exercise books to pupils across all primary schools in the 10 wards of the council as part of deliberate move to encourage parents to send their children to school.
Responding, the education secretary, Alhaji Ndagi, commended the council chairman for donating the books which, he said, would enhance and encourage the pupils to be serious in school.
He assured the chairman that he would do justice during the distribution of the books.
