The Chairman of Abaji Area Council, Alhaji Abdulrahman Ajiya, ordered the closure of the council’s secretariat main gate, shutting out some staff who came late to office.
Ajiya, who arrived the council secretariat in company of some of his aides at about 7:20a.m., alighted from his car and ordered security men at the gate to shut it.
Speaking with our reporter, the chairman said he decided to take the action because some staff had developed the habit of coming late to work.
He said he saw no reason why the staff would not be punctual to work as he has made their welfare a priority in his administration.
The area council chairman said taking such measures would no doubt serve as deterrent to other staff, adding that the council would next week summon a meeting with all the staff of the council to address truancy and late coming.
