The chairmanship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) of Abaji Area Council for the 2019 election, Alhaji Muhammed Inuwa Ashafa, has called on youths to always engage themselves in sporting activities in the area.

Ashafa stated this during the opening ceremony of a football match competition at Pilot Science Primary School, which he organized for youth tagged ‘Ashafa Unity Cup’.

He said sporting activities were meant for people who were physically and mentally alert, hence the youth should devote their time to participating in it.

He said he decided to organized the tournament for the purpose of unity and togetherness of youths in the area.

The chairmanship candidate said the competition would also distract the youth from engaging in political violence or other social vices.

He said his administration would give sports special priority if elected as chairman of the council in 2019, assuring that he would ensure that all schools across the council were provided with all the necessary sporting facilities.
