An aide to the Chairman of Abaji Area Council, Barrister Haruna Yakubu Gana, has paid WAEC fees for 60 orphans in the area.

Barr. Gana, who is the Senior Special Adviser on Security Matters to the Chairman, while presenting the cash to the beneficiaries at his residence in the area yesterday, said the gesture was aimed at assisting the less privileged.

He said he had an age-long desire to assist orphans and the less privileged.

Barr. Gana said, “In my little way, I decided to reach out to the orphans to support them through paying their WAEC fees, and as well as support primary school pupils with uniforms and writing materials.”

He, therefore, urged the beneficiaries to devote their time to education, and called on philanthropists and other well-to-do individuals to support the less privileged, especially orphans.

Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, a JSS II student, Victoria Haruna, commended the Gana for identifying with them, and prayed God to continue to open ways for him.

Miss Haruna called on the other aides of chairman to emulate Gana by supporting orphans and the less privileged in the area.
