The chairman of Abaji Area Council, Abubakar Umar Abdullahi, has joined the race for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Senate seat ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Abdullahi confirmed that he has obtained the N20 million nomination and expression of interest forms to contest on the platform of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Abubakar Mohammed, the chairman said his decision followed extensive consultations and appeals from stakeholders, youths, women groups, and other residents of the FCT.
He said he accepted the call to contest after weighing the demands and expectations of the people.
The council chairman pledged to represent the interests, aspirations and future of FCT residents with dedication and integrity if elected.
