Ahead of the 2027 polls, the former Managing Director and Chief executive officer of Nigeria incentives Based Risks Sharing system for Agriculture lending (NIRSAL) Abdulhameed Aliyu Abbati has declared his intention to contest for the Adamawa Central Senatorial seat.
Abbati made the declaration at a press conference in Yola yesterday stressing that he would be contesting on the All Progressives Congress (APC) platform after wide consultation with stakeholders in the zone.
He said his desire to contest the senatorial polls was borne out of patriotic concern for a quality and result oriented representation for the people of the Adamawa central district noting that his people deserve someone who has the experience, capacity and network to influence more federal presence in the area.
“I’m not going to the National Assembly to warm a seat but to legislate, advocates, negotiate, attract projects and to attract federal presence,” he said.
He pledged to collaborate with the Federal Government, institutions and leaders at all level to bring development to his people especially in the areas of roads, skills, irrigation, employment opportunities, health supports, access to education, livestock development among others.
Answering a question on the party’s primaries if condition warrant, Abbati explained that as far as the process would be transparent and fair,he is willing to accept any outcome and will be loyal to the party and leaders and to support anyone aspirant that emerges as winner of the contest.
