Abducted Fulani leader in Kaduna community freed after N8m ransom

The abducted Fulani leader of Maganda in  Kagarko LGA of Kaduna State, Alhaji Aliyu Abdullahi, has regained his freedom after an alleged payment of N8 million to his abductors.

City & Crime had reported that the victim, popularly known as Ardon Maganda, was reportedly abducted by bandits while returning to Maganda village on his motorcycle after attending a security meeting on December 12, 2022.

A source close to the Ardo, who preferred anonymity, confirmed the release through phone to our reporter on Sunday, saying he was set free on Thursday, at  bush bordering Kagarko and Kachia LGAs of the state.

He said family members and relatives of the victim sourced for the ransom, which he said was delivered to the bandits on Thursday, at a forest in Kachia.

He also said the victims’ family sourced for another N327,000 to buy foodstuffs and drugs for the bandits.

The village chief of Janjala, Malam Aliyu Abdullahi, confirmed the release of the Fulani leader on phone to our reporter on Sunday.

“I even went there to sympathise with him and members of his family,” he said.

He also disclosed that 13 villagers who were among the 37 that were abducted when bandits raided three communities on December 11, 2022, were also freed by their abductors.

There was no official response from the spokesman of the Kaduna State Police Command at the time of filing this report.
