A senior lecturer with Taraba State Polytechnic Jalingo, Kamalindeen Babando, and three farmers who were abducted by kidnappers have regained their freedom.

Babando was abducted at midnight at his residence located close to Specialists Hospital Jalingo two weeks ago by gunmen suspected to be kidnappers.

Daily Trust findings revealed that the senior lecturer spent two weeks in captivity and was released two days ago after ransom was paid.

It was not known how much was paid as ransom but a source close to Babando family said over two million Naira was paid.

The three farmers abducted while working in their farms in Sabon Gida area of Gassol Local Government Area of the state two weeks ago also regained their freedom.

It was gathered that N400,000 was paid for each of the abducted farmers to the  kidnappers before their release.

Communities in the area, it was gathered, have formed a strong vigilant and now patrol the area against activities of gunmen that have become a security threat in recent times.

The police spokesperson in the state, DSP David Misal could not be reached for comment over the issue as his line was switched off when our reporter called.
