Assistant Police Commissioner.ACP Emmanuel Agene who was abducted on Wednesday while traveling to Zamfara with his driver has been released.
Both the ACP and his driver were released unhurt on Saturday evening and are with the Kaduna State police command.
The police had mounted an intensified survey on the Birnin- Gwari- Funtua road since it was reported that the ACP was abducted and were able to track down the location where the man and his driver were held.
The abductors it was learnt took to their heels leaving the ACP and his driver at the spot when they realized they have been spotted through an aerial survey of the area.
Police public relations officer in Kaduna Mukhtar Hussain Aliyu who confirmed the release to our correspondent, said the ACP and his driver were actually rescued by the crack team of the police on anti-kidnapping and the special Insepctor General of police team on duty in the state.
He said the operation included mounting an aerial survey of the area which combed the entire bushes and was not relenting until it was able to rescue the ACP and his driver.
"It is the combined efforts of the IG team and the crack anti-kdinapping unit and with the help of God that was able to rescue the ACP," he said.
ASP Mukhtar said no arrest has been made so far but confirmed that the ACP and his driver were unhurt.
He also said from what transpired during the search for the ACP and his driver and the rescue that the police can confirm that it was a case of kidnapping.
