Three seminarians abducted from the Catholic Immaculate Conception Minor Seminary in Edo State have appealed to their families and well-meaning Nigerians for help in paying the ransom demanded by their captors so they could be released.

The seminarians were kidnapped on July 9 from the seminary, located in Ivianokpodi, Agenebode, in Etsako East Local Government Area of Edo State.

Daily Trust reports that the gunmen stormed the school at about 9pm, killed the NSCDC official, and injured a vigilante before kidnapping the three seminarians.

In a viral video seen by Daily Trust, the seminarians were shown holding a human skull while pleading for ransom.

“Please, we are begging everyone to help us pay the ransom they demanded before we are released. We are suffering here. Help us so that we can be released,” they said.

The spokesperson for the Catholic Diocese of Auchi, Rev. Fr. Peter Egielewa, confirmed the video when contacted.

“Yes, the video where you see them holding a human skull is real. We are negotiating with the kidnappers, but they are asking for money we do not have, and I think out of frustration they made that video,” he said.
