Abducted tractor driver shot dead in FCT council

The tractor driver, Ishaya Jacob, who was kidnapped while working at a farm has been shot dead by his abductors at their den in a forest in Kogi LGA of Kogi State.

City & Crime had reported that kidnappers, last Saturday, abducted the tractor driver who was hired to work on a farmland at Tsohon-Achido village in Abaji Area Council of the FCT, which shares border with Ohizi village in Kogi State.

Confirming the killing of the tractor driver to our reporter on Wednesday, a vigilante member, who preferred anonymity, said the driver was killed when he attempted to escape from his abductors on Monday.

He said despite killing him, his abductors called the farm owner to purchase food items including drugs and Indian hemp worth over N432,000 for them.

“The kidnappers did not open up earlier to the farm owner that the man they abducted had been killed, instead they asked him to buy them foodstuffs and drugs for them,” he said.

According to him, the farm owner purchased the items demanded by the kidnappers but asked the kidnappers to give the phone to the tractor driver in order to speak with him.

“When the farm owner insisted that he must first speak with the tractor driver before bringing the food items to them, the kidnappers switched off the phone,” he said.

He said the farm owner later mobilized vigilante members and hunters to the forest on Tuesday, where the lifeless body of the tractor driver was found.

The vigilante source said the corpse of the driver had been taken to his Chezeko village in Gwagwalada Area Council for burial.

There was no official response from the spokeswoman of the FCT Police Command, DSP Adeh Josephine, over the incident as at the time of filling the report.
