Operatives of the Delta State Police Command have rescued a kidnap victim in the state.

The victim, who was abducted on April 1, 2026, was rescued on April 3 by operatives of the Abraka Police Division in collaboration with local vigilantes and hunters.

The command’s spokesperson, Bright Edafe, said the police received a report that armed men had invaded a residence at Denedo Extension, Abraka, and whisked the victim into the bush.

He said the Divisional Police Officer mobilised patrol teams, who, alongside vigilantes and hunters, combed the forest where the victim was being held.

According to him, the kidnappers abandoned the victim and fled upon noticing that security operatives were closing in on them.

The victim was subsequently rescued in a bush along the railway line, Edafe said.

He added that the victim was rescued unhurt and has since been reunited with his family.

Edafe noted that the victim has provided useful information to aid investigations, while efforts are ongoing to arrest the fleeing suspects and bring them to justice.
