Abductors of Edo doctor, brother demand N200m

The abductors of a medical doctor, Abu Ibrahim Babatunde, and his brother, Abu Tahir, have demanded a N200 million ransom.

A source close to the family said the kidnappers contacted the victims’ relatives on Saturday, demanding the sum.

The source said negotiations to reduce the amount were ongoing between the family and the abductors.

The spokesperson of the police in the state, ASP Eno Ikoedem, said command was not aware of the demand.

It would be recalled that the two brothers were kidnapped on January 1, 2026, along City Pride Road, Igbira Camp, in Auchi—the administrative headquarters of Etsako West Local Government Area.

Dr. Abu Ibrahim, who is currently undergoing his housemanship at the Edo State University Teaching Hospital, Auchi, was returning home after work with his brother, Tahir, when the incident occurred.
