Vice President Yemi Osinbajo Friday in Ilorin revealed how Dr Alimi AbdulRazaq influenced the establishment of the African Court on Human and Peoples’ Rights.

Osinbajo said this during the turbaning of Abdulrazaq as the second Mutawali of Ilorin Emirate by the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari.

Dr Alimi AbdulRasaq is an elder brother of the governor of Kwara State, Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq.

Speaking at the event, Osinbajo said Dr AbdulRasaq stood out for his compassion and belief in upholding human dignity at all levels. 

“Some may not know that his PhD thesis on human rights’ protection in Africa set the framework for the establishment of Africa Court for Human and Peoples Rights which was commissioned by the Organisation for African Unity (now African Union).”

Osinbajo, a law schoolmate to the Mutawali, said Dr Alimi brings many sterling qualities to the royal title.
