Lipede made this disclosure at the First Media Correspondents’ interactive session/luncheon held at his private residence in Abeokuta. The chairman said that arrangements had been concluded to start the scheme as part of moves aimed at giving education sector a boost in the council area.
He said, “The new uniform will be made from our local fabric, adire, which we are all proud of having from this part of the world. The plan is that each pupil from all the public primary school in this council shall have two pair of the uniform for a session. By the time the schools will be resuming we shall start the distribution.” .
The council boss added that the new scheme would complement the existing free text books programme started by his administration, saying, “The free textbooks for public primary schools will continue this year. We started it last year and it was successful from the reports we got.
