Chairman of the chapter Comrade Uchenna Obigwe in a press statement sent to Daily Trust debunked claims by “one Christopher Ezekiel who purportedly portrayed himself” as chairman of the union in the state and made disparaging remarks against Wabba’s ambition. Wabba is one of the two unionists contesting the position of president of the NLC.  
Ezekiel, had at a press conference in Abia, claiming to be the state’s chapter chairman of the union, accused Wabba of marginalizing the south east and south-south zones in the number of delegates selected from the two unions during a botched NLC elections last month.
But Obigwe said that “as the recognized and bonafide chairman of MHWUN, Abia State Council, I am aware that sharing of delegates is constitutionally based on the financial contributions/strength of a council and not on the basis of equality as ignorantly portrayed by the protesters.
“As the bonafide executive members of the union, we wish to state categorically that Ezekiel Christopher is a busybody who is dabbling into the affairs of a union he is not a member of and cannot be seen to be representing the interest of the union but an agent of his backers and sponsors in their nefarious activities at destabilizing the NLC through the introduction of sensationalism and tribal colouration in the campaigns.”
