Barely a week after facing heavy criticism over the deplorable state of roads, Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun, on Monday visited several troubled spots and issued a marching order to the contractor handling the construction of the Denro-Ishashi-Akute road to complete the project within two weeks.
The governor also announced that work would soon begin on the Alagbole-Ajuwon and Akute-Ajuwon roads in Ifo Local Government Area. Other roads slated for contract awards include Hercules Giwa (Oke Aro Rd), sections of the Akute-Ijoko road, and the road leading to Yakoyo.
Abiodun had recently trended on social media, particularly on X (formerly Twitter), as users posted pictures and videos of terrible road conditions across the state, expressing their frustration and anger.
During an on-the-spot assessment of roads in communities bordering Lagos State, Abiodun highlighted the nearly three-year-long delay in the Denro-Ishashi-Akute road project and insisted that the contractor mobilise to the site immediately to ensure completion within the stipulated two weeks.

“My pledge is that I have come here today to see things for myself. There are two roads that are considerably important to our people. First of all, the Denro-Ishashi-Akute road, I have given the contractor a marching order that the road must be completed in the next two weeks, asphalt and the bridge,” he said.
