A press statement made available to newsmen said Prince Ofoaye, whose selection took place at the weekend clan hails from Oguntula rulingh, and he is the 9th Oba  to be enthroned in the town since it was founded.

The head of Oguntula ruling house, High Chief Goodluck Ehinmowo and the Secretary of Okohi Chieftaincy family, Prince Owoseni Akingbade, said the unanimous endorsement of Prince Ofoaye by the kingmakers was done in accordance with Aboto chieftaincy declaration.

Also speaking, the Gbogunron of Aboto and a kingmaker in the town, High Chief Olatunji Wehinse, affirmed that all the kingmakers unanimously endorsed Prince Ofoaye Oyetayo in the selection and urged the state government to present him the staff of office in the interest of peace. He explained that the Chief Priest and the kingmakers had commenced traditional rites for the Oba-elect as required by tradition while a position paper would be sent to government.

In his address to the people of the town shortly after his selection, the Oba-elect expressed gratitude to the kingmakers and the people for their support and assured them that his regime would provide adequate security for the people.

He urged traditional rulers in the Niger Delta region to speak with one voice so that their agitations for improved welfare could be guaranteed.

He condemned the lukewarm attitude of some oil companies operating in the area to address the problems caused by frequent oil spillage to their host communities in the area of health and economy.

Prince Ofoaye warned the youth in the area to shun violence and militancy, but to be good ambassadors of their respective communities for the sake of the generation unborn.

He advised the state and federal governments to grant soft loans to fishermen in the Niger Delta and update them with relevant information and facilities that would boost fish production in the country.
