ABS team manager, Alloy Chukwuemeka, told supersport.com that the reason Bashir will not be sold to Premier League rivals is that he is “the symbol of the club.”

But he added that they will do a deal for the player with only a foreign club that meets the valuation for the striker.

“He (Bashir) is a no go area to rival clubs in the league. He is the symbol of the club and this is a management policy not to sell him to another Nigerian club,” said Chukwuemeka yesterday.

Bashir has been linked with a move to Nigerian champions, Kano Pillars in the off-season.

He also cleared the air on the status of youngsters, Andrew Abalogu and Bright Esieme, who are nominees for the Best Rookie category in the 2012 League Bloggers Awards (LBA).

Chukwuemeka disclosed that Enyimba have made contact with ABS over the duo but only through a telephone conversation.

He said no agreement has been reached with any club over the transfer of ABS’ players in the off-season yet.

“Yes Enyimba did ask about them but only through telephone, so nothing is agreed. We are not ready to negotiate the transfer of any player now, rather we are planning to increase their incentives and other welfare packages by over 100% and the club management has approved all our requests,” said Chukwuemeka.

The club intends to hire only 25 playing personnel as against 35 they recruited last term.

Already, the club’s head coach, Kabiru Dogo, has been directed to release the names of 10 players into the transfer market while screening of new players has been cancelled as there are no vacancy for now.

ABS are also in the running for the Best Club in the LBA, which takes place in Lagos on October 28.
