The Chancellor of the Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, Alfred Nnaemeka Achebe, has called for the establishment of research funds for universities.
 He made the call at the weekend while receiving members of the Local Organizing Committee for the forthcoming award and dinner event, being organised by the institution’s Alumni in Abuja.
He said such funds would allow the universities to embark on meaningful researches on some fundamental challenges facing the country.
He challenged the alumni of Nigerian universities to map out ways of assisting the government in developing the nation’s universities.
Earlier, the National President of the association, Dr. Ahmed Tijjani Mora, said the event will hold on April 23.
